    The MD19 Lions Knights of the Blind Committee created a brochure to list multiple resouces in the United States and Canada that are available to blind and low vision individuals.

 

DBC 6000 recording

    The BARD system has the book recorded. The National Library Service (NLS) for the Blind and Print Diasbled is sponsored by the Library of Congress. The book has been assigned the Braille and Audio Reading Download access number BARD--DBC 6000. BARD is available at loc.gov/nls or call 888-657-7323.

 

Book Introduction – 5 minutes

    The authors provide succinctly why the book was written and how they present it to children. This is a written script.

    Ricky Enger from Hadley talks in-depth with the authors about the book Grandpa's White Cane. The importance of making communities aware of the white cane and dogs for guidance is a significant part of their discussion. Located on this website in the section entitled: Interviews.

    The authors have written a script for their 30 minute presentation to third grade classrooms, presenting to one third grade classroom at a time.

    This bookmark lists ways that you can help blind and low vision people. The bookmark was prepared for MD19 Lions Knights of the Blind Committee.

 

White Cane Construction - PVC pipe

    Directions are given for how to make white canes out of PVC pipe, red tape, and black tape for the handle. Pictures are included to help the construction process.

 

White Cane Construction – wood and paint

    Directions are given for how to make white canes out of a wood dowel. The dowel is painted, a tip is glued on, a shrink wrap black handle cover is attached.

 

Presentation Feedback

    The form is print-ready. The classroom teacher should fill out the form for presentation feedback. Additional presentations may be requested.
