Ricky Enger from the HadleyHelps.org recorded a Hadley Presents podcast for their series “Our Conversation with the Experts.” Coauthors Jim Hoxie and Joanna Jones discussed why they had a need to write Grandpa's White Cane.

MD5 Regional Lions Convention

Using an interview format, author Jim Hoxie with retired teacher Sheila Powell presented the book Grandpa's White Cane at a Regional Lions Convention. Participants experienced a version of Jim's school classroom presentations. The final part of the presentation included guide dog information as Jim now uses a dog to assist with mobility.

Wyoming Council of the Blind

Using an interview format, coauthors Jim Hoxie and Joanna Jones presented the book Grandpa's White Cane at the Wyoming Council of the Blind State Convention. They discussed changes that occurred in Jim's home community after their taking time to share the meaning of the tall white cane with school age children.

Hines VA Rehab Center for the Blind

In preparation for the Hines Rehab Torch! newsletter article, Jim Hoxie and Joanna Jones wrote answers to questions about their process for publishing the book Grandpa's White Cane. Jim's story is about how vision impairment impacts the life of an individual and how learning to use the white cane encourages the blind person to be safer, more confident, and independent.
